Welcoming Alterhumans of All Kinds!
───── ❝ Welcome ❞ ───── Hello, traveler! Welcome to Therian Kyodo!
I'm here to welcome you to our community, Therian Kyodo! Let's get you started here with some basics. 🐾
● What is a Therian? ▪︎ A Therian (short for Therianthrope), is someone who identifies as a non-human animal or animalistic creature. This can be for spiritual, psychological, physical, cultural, or other reasons.
▪︎ Quadrobics, gear, shifts, past lives, and similar things are NOT required to identify as a therian. If you identify as an animal, you are a therian.
● What is an Otherkin? ▪︎ An Otherkin (or otherkind), is an umbrella term for someone who identifies non-human. Non-human can include animals (therians), mythical creatures (mythkin), fictional characters (fictionkin), plants (phytanthropes), objects (objectkin), concepts (conceptkin), music, robots, locations, and divine beings.
▪︎ Like like therians, you do not need to have gear, shifts, past lives, or do quadrobics to identify as otherkin. A therian may consider themselves both therian and otherkin, or simply otherkin.
● Are Therians Furries/Quadrobists? ▪︎ Nope! While furries simply enjoy anthropomorphic animals, and quadrobists preform an activity like running or jumping on all four limbs, therians identify and view themselves as a non-human animal on some level. ▪︎ Therians can be furries and quadrobists, but not all! Some engage in these hobbies as a way to connect to their identity.
● Is Therianthropy a Mental Illness? ▪︎ Therianthropy and otherkinity are not mental illnesses. While someone may identify as a therian because of a mental illness or neurodivergence making them view themselves that way, therianthropy by itself not be harmful or disruptive to one's life.
